Garth Nisbet is a portfolio manager and member of Quest's Investment Committee. His duties include fixed income portfolio management and equity sector research. Prior to joining Quest in 2005, Garth was employed by Columbia Management as senior vice president and senior portfolio manager. He served as Crabbe Huson Group's chief investment officer from 1999 to 2003. Garth began his investment career in 1985 with the State of Wisconsin Investment Board; previous experience includes Lincoln National Corp, where he was vice president responsible for developing and managing high yield bond portfolios.
Garth has served as a financial commentator on Bloomberg TV, and has written numerous investment newsletters. His market analysis and favorable investment track record has been featured in Barron's, Money, Pension and Investments, The Wall Street Journal, Dow Jones Investment Advisor, Bloomberg Magazine, Bond Week, Investor's Business Daily, The New York Times, The Oregonian, USA TODAY, The Washington Times, Mutual Fund Magazine, Kiplinger's, and The Business Journal.
He has been a guest lecturer at Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne, University of Oregon, Portland State University, Oregon Graduate Institute of Science and Technology, Oregon State Bar Association, and Stanford Alumni Association; he has been a featured speaker at The Institute for International Research and Infoline high yield bond conferences in New York. In 2005, he was honored by peers as a "top regional financial advisor" in BrainstormNW magazine.
Garth holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Communications from the University of Washington and Master of Business Administration in Finance from the University of Wisconsin. Garth is a member of the CFA Society of Portland and served as president in 2000-2001. He is also a member of the CFA Institute.
